DNS records

A, AAAA, MX, TXT and other published records, compared against the previous check.

Nameservers

Delegation changes — often the first visible sign that a domain moved provider.

Registration dates

Expiry and renewal dates from public registration data, so a renewal deadline does not arrive unannounced.

SSL certificates

Certificate validity and expiry for the domain's public endpoint.

Coverage depends on what a domain and its registry publish. Available signals and check frequency are confirmed when a domain is added.

When something changes

A change is recorded as an event with the old and new values side by side, so you can see exactly what moved before deciding whether it was expected.

Why verification

To protect domain owners and prevent unauthorised monitoring, you may be asked to verify control of your domain before monitoring begins. The available verification method will be shown when you add a domain.

Why not just check manually?

You can — the free tools are there, and they are free for a reason. The catch is that domains change on their own schedule, not yours: a provider migration rewrites DNS, a certificate lapses on a Saturday, a renewal date arrives while you are thinking about something else. Monitoring is the part of the job that does not fit in a browser tab.

Status is text, not just colour

Healthy, Attention and Critical are labelled as well as coloured, so severity reads the same for everyone.

What is domain monitoring?

Domain monitoring is the practice of re-checking a domain's public signals on a schedule and recording what differs between checks. Instead of remembering to run a DNS lookup or read a registration record yourself, the checks run for you and the differences become events you can review.

Why monitor DNS changes

DNS changes can directly affect where web traffic, email, or verification services are directed. A rewritten A record, a nameserver swap, a removed TXT record used for mail authentication — each is a small edit that can change where traffic or mail goes. DNS change monitoring puts a timestamp on those edits.

How monitoring differs from a DNS lookup

A DNS lookup returns the records at the moment you ask. Monitoring repeats that question over time, compares each answer with the last, and keeps the differences — which is what makes expiry and SSL deadlines visible before they arrive rather than after. The same is true of registration data: a lookup shows today's expiry date, monitoring tells you when it moves.

DomainsMesh is an independent tool and not a registrar. Monitoring reports changes in public domain signals; it does not assess intent or determine whether a change is malicious.
